The challenge includes the 3 of the highest mountains in the national park; Pen y ghent, Whernside, Ingleborough and the walking distance between the 3.
Pen y Ghent - 694m
Traditionally started from Horton – in – Ribblesdale by clocking in at the Pen y Ghent Cafe. Challengers then have 12 hours to return to clock out. From Horton the route ascends through fields and a small craggy step to reach the summit of Pen y ghent (694m).
Whernside - 736m
From Pen y ghent challengers make the short descent and long distance hike to Ribblehead. Walking alongside the viaduct and railway challengers then climb Whernside (the highest of the 3 Peaks) The ascent of the 736m peak is fairly gentle following the main ridge.
Ingleborough - 723m
Descending Whernside with Ingleborough (723m) insight there is only a short distance to walk until the ascent begins. Travelling across fields, then following the rocky slabs that form the path to the final ascent. Then onto the rocky plateau to reach the summit shelter and trig point.
